By day, Michael Boatman is also an actor. For six seasons he played ‘Carter’ on the ABC comedy Spin City (for which he was nominated for three NAACP Image Awards for Best Supporting Actor in a Comedy Series) and for seven seasons he played ‘Stanley’ on the HBO series Arli$$ (and received four Image Award nominations). He also won the GLAAD (Gay and Lesbian Association Against Defamation) award for Best Actor. Other notable television performances include ‘Beckett’, in the Vietnam drama China Beach, and ‘Attorney Dave Seaver’, on NBC’s Law and Order and Law and Order S.V.U. He appears in the feature films, Woman Thou Art Loosed, The Glass Shield, The Peacemaker, Hamburger Hill and many others and in 2003, he co-starred in the Broadway production of Athol Fugard’s drama, Master Harold… and the Boys.

Michael is also a screenwriter and novelist. He writes in the splatterpunk horror genre. His short stories and novellas appear in Until Someone Loses an Eye…Tales of Disturbing Humor, Dark Dreams II: Voices From The Other Side, and Dark Dreams III: Whispers in The Night, Sages and Swords and Badass Horror, and magazines such as Weird Tales, Horror Garage and Red Scream. He is the author of the short story collection, God Laughs When You Die. (Dybbuk Press Oct. 2007). His humorous horror novel, The Revenant Road, was recently published by Drollerie Press. As a HUGE fan of China Beach, SF in SF is delighted to welcome him to San Francisco.
