August Reading

August 19th, 2010 · No Comments

Coming up on Saturday (August 21st) we have another fine reading for you. Here are the authors who will entertain us.

Cecelia Holland is primarily a writer of historical novels, but some of her books shade into the fantastic, and she has also written science fiction. Her latest novel, just published by Berkley, is The Secret Eleanor. It stars Eleanor of Aquitaine, a woman who divorced the King of France, married a man who later became King of England, and then was mother to King Richard the Lionheart and King John.

Mary Robinette Kowal is the current Vice President of SFWA, and an expert puppeteer. She won the John W. Campbell Award for Best New Writer in 2008 and was a 2009 Hugo nominee for her story “Evil Robot Monkey.” Her debut novel, Shades of Milk and Honey, has recently been published by Tor.

As ever, Terry Bisson will be on hand to introduce the readers and moderate the Q&A session. Books will be provided for sale and signing by Borderlands Books.

Door open 6:00PM for a 7:00PM start. The Variety Preview Room, 582 Market St. @ Montgomery, 1st floor of The Hobart Bldg., San Francisco.
